Malaga: City Hotels and Accommodation
Brimming with a wealth of hostels (hostales) and fondas, there is no shortage of budget accommodation in the famous holiday resort of Malaga. Central Malaga lies around 8 km / 5 miles to the north-east of Malaga Airport (AGP) and is known for its spectacular sandy beaches and endless sunshine. Hotels can be found in the following areas.
Old Town District
Central to life in the city, the Old Town district features a number of well-preserved 19th-century buildings and contains a good selection of street cafés, reasonably priced hotels and appealing restaurants. Rooms tend to be available all throughout the year in this part of Malaga, with the exception of Easter time and during the Feria celebrations in August, when accommodation quickly becomes fully booked. Many notable hotels lie close to the Alameda Principal and neighbouring streets, near to the central Plaza de la Constitución, and around the Paseo del Parque, close to the scenic waterfront.
Los Montes District
A particularly charming region of the city, Los Montes is famed for its stunning bay views and offers many impressive vantage points. A selection of affordable guest houses and cheap lodging options reside in this part of Malaga, often standing close to authentic taverns and Tapas bars.
Beaches
Without doubt the area's top drawcard, Malaga's magnificent sandy shoreline stretches for miles and is edged by the Paseo Maritimo Antonio Machado promenade. An extensive selection of high-rise hotels line the beachfront and overlook the coast. Accommodation is particularly clustered around La Malagueta Beach, which boasts many nearby shops and facilities.
